Ailsa Craig Painting W.I.P.2

Oil On Canvas Board 12in x 9in " Ailsa Craig "
A few days on after drying and the W.I.P. Ailsa Craig now has some colour on it...

I decided to paint with only one brush for a change and to leave marks compared to my usually smoothly blended seascapes...

I'm pleased with the outcome and enjoyed painting it...

Goatfell Painting...Hiking...Isle Of Arran...Scotland

Goatfell Isle Of Arran
Had a play in the studio today using oils on a 7in x 5in masonite board...

A few years ago I purchased a book by Colley Whisson about impressionistic painting...

Anyway I got a few paints out and a large brush and off I went...

Since moving up here to Scotland I'm lucky to have amazing scenery close by...

The painting is a rendition of a photo I took whilst hiking up Goatfell on the Isle Of Arran...

There's alot of glazing been done in certain areas and the use of impasto in the sky...

Once dry this will be varnished for protection and colour enhancement...

Just got to give it a title with Arran mentioned in it then it will be displayed and shared on my website ...

I haven't forgotten about the print update mentioned in an earlier blog post...

webpage has been created and an image uploaded...but more will be added as soon as possible...

Romantic Paintings W.I.P. Update

Romantic Paintings Work In Progress
Well here's the latest image from the work in progress I'm currently working on...

I'm still undecided where it's going so it might all change...

We shall see...

I was recently asked on my facebook art page whether this was from my imagination...

To which I replied well the mountains are a local view to me of the Isle Of Arran but other than that the colours or colors if your across the pond and the rest of the painting are produced without any plan...

As they say just winging it...

Romantic Paintings W.I.P.

Romantic Paintings Stuart Kirby
Greetings...well here is the latest work in progress on the studio easel...

It's another romantic seascape oil painting featuring the Isle Of Arran at the end of the day with a vibrant palette and some heavy impasto...

Living on the Ayrshire coast in Scotland I see this regularly changing vista in its many unique forms and some times not at all as the smir moves up the Firth Of Clyde..

Currently I am waiting for this to dry so I can continue working on it...needing more layers of paint and when they dry selective areas will be glazed...

Thanks for dropping by...

The image on the left shows a framed print of a recently sold painting " Love To Arran" the print has been matted, framed, signed and dated...

This was purchased and given as a wedding present...

A selection of these competitively priced prints will be added to my website very soon...

Love To Arran Oil Painting

Yesterday this romantic painting " Love To Arran " was purchased in Edinburgh at The Gallery On The Corner...

Apparently the collector had seen the painting on my website and saw it was in Edinburgh and made  a journey from Glasgow to collect it...

Prints of this painting and others on Fabriano paper using archival inks will be available in future...

More information will be added here at my blog when these become available
